PROTOCOL GROUP’S OCTAPIXX MEDIA INC. SELECTS HAIVISION AS LEAD SRT SUPPLIER FOR NEW REMI PRODUCTION FACILITIES

Updated: Jul 7

Octapixx Media Inc., a leader in Canadian live sports production and a proud member of the Protocol Group, has selected Haivision as its lead SRT encoder and decoder solution to power its new state-of-the-art REMI (Remote Integration Model) production facilities in Toronto.

As part of this build, Octapixx is leveraging 40 channels of Haivision Makito X4 video encoders and 20 channels of video decoders into the REMI production infrastructure. The Makito X4 was selected for its reliability, ultra-low latency, and broadcast-quality performance, making it well-suited to the demands of Octapixx’s production workflow. With 4K and HD support, a compact form factor, and a strong track record in live production environments, the X4 enables real-time contribution for Octapixx’s diverse sports broadcasts.

The investment further enhances Octapixx’s capacity to deliver high-quality, low-latency live productions for its growing roster of top-tier clients, including Canadian Premier League, OneSoccer, Rev TV, NASCAR Canada, and more.

“Transmission gear is a key component of any REMI production, so careful evaluation was done prior to selecting Haivision,” said Chris Priess, Octapixx’s Project Manager who oversaw the build. “In the end, their reputation for excellent service, combined with robust and reliable products, made it clear we had made the right decision.”

Lowell Conn, President of Octapixx Media Inc. and Protocol Group, added, “We have been a longtime satisfied customer of Haivision via our sister company TV2GO International, and so the familiarity and compatibility with many of our existing projects was another key benefit to going with Haivision.”

Octapixx’s REMI facilities feature advanced control rooms, commentary booths, cutting-edge editing suites, and a full-service live broadcast studio tailored for the dynamic needs of modern sports broadcasting. Earlier this year, Octapixx was named the exclusive studio and control room production partner of OneSoccer, covering top-tier properties such as the Canadian Premier League, Canada Soccer’s National Teams, TELUS Canadian Championship, and Concacaf competitions.

“Our mandate is to offer a proudly Canadian broadcast solution: flexible, scalable, and driven by innovation,” said Conn. “With our Haivision-powered infrastructure, we are positioned to serve not only OneSoccer but also a broad spectrum of sports broadcasters and rights holders.”

“We’re proud to support Octapixx Media and the Protocol Group as they expand their REMI capabilities with Haivision’s low-latency video contribution solutions,” said Marcus Schioler, VP of Marketing at Haivision. “Their commitment to innovation and delivering high-quality live sports broadcasts aligns with our mission to power the future of remote production with reliable live video solutions that transport pristine quality video over any type of network.”
